Mandatory basic insurance in the Netherlands

Health insurance is the mandatory basic insurance that everyone in the Netherlands must take out when living or working there. The basic insurance covers general practitioner care, hospital care, and medication among others. Labour migrants must insure themselves within four months of arrival and may be entitled to healthcare allowance if their income is below a certain threshold.

Everyone living or working in the Netherlands is required to take out basic health insurance.
