Sickness Benefits Act (Ziektewet)

The Act which provides that sick employees are entitled to continued payment of wages.

The Sickness Benefits Act (Ziektewet) regulates the right to a benefit for employees who become ill and no longer have an employer who continues to pay their wages. Employees with an employer are entitled to at least 70% continuation of pay for a maximum of 104 weeks (2 years). After 2 years of illness, the employee may qualify for a WIA benefit. The employer has a reintegration obligation.

During illness, the employee is entitled to at least 70% of the wages.
