Transition payment (transitievergoeding)

A transition payment (transitievergoeding) upon dismissal, calculated on the basis of years of service and salary.

The transition payment (transitievergoeding) is a financial compensation to which an employee is entitled upon dismissal by the employer or upon non-extension of a temporary contract. The amount is 1/3 gross monthly salary per year of service. Since 2020, every employee has been entitled to a transition payment (transitievergoeding) upon dismissal from the first day of work. The maximum transition payment (transitievergoeding) is adjusted annually.

The transition payment (transitievergoeding) amounts to 1/3 monthly salary per year of service.
