Wage Garnishment

Seizure of wages by creditor through bailiff

Wage garnishment is a legal measure where a creditor seizes an employee's wages through a bailiff. The employer is obliged to transfer part of the salary directly to the bailiff. The employee always retains the right to the attachment-free base, a minimum amount needed for subsistence.

With wage garnishment, part of the salary is paid directly by the employer to the bailiff.
