BSN (Burgerservicenummer)
BSN (Citizen Service Number)
A unique citizen service number (BSN) needed for work, taxes and healthcare in the Netherlands.
The Citizen Service Number (BSN) is a unique personal number that every resident of the Netherlands receives upon registration in the Personal Records Database (BRP). The BSN is required for work, tax returns, health insurance and contact with the government. Labor migrants receive a BSN upon registration with the municipality. Without a BSN, an employer cannot legally employ you and apply the correct tax rate.
“Your BSN is stated on your residence document or identity document.”
